Abu Karanka, July 23(Darfur 24)A number of citizens in the Gad Al-Sayed administrative unit in Abu Karinka locality, East Darfur state, said that the MTN communications network has resumed services of voice calls and Internet services after an interruption of more than a year.

One of the citizens from the area Youssef Abdullah Rabeh, told “Darfur 24” that the return of the network to the area is necessary for communication and the management of people’s lives, revealing great suffering due to the interruption of networks for a long period in the area.

While MTN official in charge of the maintenance and operation team confirmed that service was restored at the transmission station in the Jad Al-Sid area on Monday, with all services, voice calls and the Internet, and work is underway to operate the Abu Karinka local headquarters station on Tuesday.

Communications services were cut off from Abu Karanka locality and large areas of the Darfur region for more than a year due to the ongoing conflict in the country, and satellite Internet became the alternative in those areas.
