Zalingei, July 20(Darfur 24)
An employee at the Humanitarian Aid Commission HAC in Central Darfur State revealed that the Rapid Support Forces RSF retained a number of former HAC employees to work within the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations SARHO.
Speaking exclusively to Darfur 24 he said that the Rapid Support Forces “gave a number of the Commission’s employees a choice between working with them or leaving their jobs, which prompted many to accept the offer and continue working, including the Secretary-General of the Commission and some directors of technical departments.”
The director of the new agency in the Darfur region, Abdul Hamid Othman Saleh, said during a meeting with international organizations working in the state at the agency’s headquarters in the city of Zalingei that the agency’s role is coordination and oversight, cooperative and flexible with international and national organizations and all humanitarian partners.
He stated that they are working to ensure the peace of vulnerable communities from the danger of hunger and fear and to achieve food security and social stability.
He stressed that the agency is independent of the military and political action of the Rapid Support Forces, feeling that its goal is humanitarian and operates in areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.
On August 13, 2023, the Rapid Support Forces established the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency in areas under its control, instead of the government Humanitarian Aid Commission.
