El Fasher – Darfur 24
The civil administration of the Abuja camp for displaced people in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, announced on Monday the arrest of 6 members of an armed movement accused of raping three girls, including a minor, in the camp.
One of the notables of the camp’s civil administration – who preferred to withhold his identity for security reasons – told “Darfur 24,” that “six armed individuals wearing military uniforms bearing the markings of the Sudan Liberation Movement-Transitional Council took three girls the day before yesterday afternoon, Saturday, on their way back from the Naivasha market to their house.” Abandoned in the Abu Sakin neighborhood before they took turns raping them.”
He pointed out that this neighborhood, located in the Abuja camp, is considered a stronghold of the movement’s forces.
The civil leader explained that the civil administration, led by Mayor Adam Yahya and with the assistance of the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in the camp, was able to arrest the accused and they were placed in a prison affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces.
One of the girls’ families revealed to Darfur 24 that the girls were treated at the home of a former medical assistant at the Abuja health center after the health center stopped working.
These days, the Abuja camp for displaced persons is witnessing continuous complaints of violations by members of the armed movements, including the theft of the homes of displaced people who fled from them due to the deteriorating security conditions in the camp as a result of the clashes taking place in the city of El Fasher.
The battles for El Fasher began on May 10, after both sides of the war mobilized thousands of soldiers and fighters from movements, militias, and mobilized to fight alongside them, as a fateful battle that could determine the future of the Darfur region.
