On Monday, a member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Army Commander, Ibrahim Jaber, discussed the humanitarian situation with the United Nations expert on human rights in Sudan, Radwan Nuweiser.
Noueiser is visiting Sudan, which is the first of its kind for the expert since the outbreak of war on April 15, 2023, and the second since his appointment on December 16, 2022.
The Sovereignty Council said, in a statement obtained by “Darfur 24”, that Ibrahim Jaber affirmed the Sudanese government’s keenness and full commitment to facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to citizens in all states and granting visas for the entry of relief teams and employees of organizations working in the humanitarian field.
He pointed out that Jaber, during his meeting with the United Nations expert on human rights in Sudan, Radwan Nuweiser, provided complete enlightenment on the humanitarian conditions in Sudan since the outbreak of war, and the extent of coordination between the executive and security agencies to deliver humanitarian aid to those who deserve it and facilitate the work of relief teams.
He stressed that the meeting emphasized the need to protect civilians, facilitate the tasks of aid convoys, and hold accountable everyone who violated human rights in Sudan.
Radwan Noueiser explained that the meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Sudan and emphasized the necessity of facilitating the tasks and movements of relief teams, journalists, lawyers, United Nations agents, and partners in international organizations.
Noueisser was appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights as a designated expert on the human rights situation in Sudan on 16 December 2022.
In the same context, the Minister of Justice, Muawiyah Othman Muhammad Khair, held a meeting with Radwan Noueiser and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Howaida Ali Awad Al-Karim.
