El Fasher , July 8(Darfur 24)

Housewives in the neighborhoods of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, have accused members of the joint force of the armed movements allied with the army of stealing their homes, after they fled their house following escalation of the war.

The battles for El Fasher began on May 10, after both sides of the war mobilized thousands of soldiers and fighters from movements, militias, and mobilized to fight alongside them, as a fateful battle that could determine the future of the Darfur region.

The head of a family from the Al-Jeel neighborhood – who preferred to hide her identity – told “Darfur 24” that the combined force of the movements is stationed in most of the Al-Jeel, Al-Salam, Al-Wahda, Timanat, and neighborhoods east of the Hajar Qaddu market, after the residents abandoned them as a result of the clashes, but after they returned, they found their homes completely expensive.

She added: “I saw members of the armed movements residing in my house lifting furniture onto the back of a combat vehicle.”

She indicated that she informed one of the joint force’s bases in the neighborhood, where his commander, with her help, returned the furniture from her house after it had been looted.

In this context, Munira Mahmoud from the Timanat neighborhood, adjacent to Al-Jeel, told “Darfur 24” that the behavior of members of the armed movements does not differ much from the behavior of members of the Rapid Support Forces.

She indicated that she lost a screen, a refrigerator, and some belongings that were in the house after she and her family fled to Zamzam camp.

She pointed out that her daughters found the house’s belongings offered for sale in Zamzam Market by members of the armed movements.

A military commander in the armed forces and a commander of one of the bases confirmed that they had received complaints from citizens due to the thefts that affected their homes in neighborhoods whose security and protection the joint force is responsible for.

The joint force of the armed movements and the army is stationed in neighborhoods of the city of El Fasher, after its liberation from the control of the Rapid Support Forces, but the continuation of intermittent clashes between the two parties, especially the southeastern axis, has prevented citizens from returning to their homes.
