El Fasher, July 5(Darfur 24)
The emergency room of the Jaber Administrative Unit in Al-Lait Jar Al-Nabi locality announced the arrival of more than 300 people after fleeing El Fasher on Thursday evening. They were received at a concentration center and provided with the necessary food and care.
Meanwhile, Ayoub Muhammad Haroun, an activist in volunteer work in the Shangil Tobay area, 55 km southwest of El Fasher, revealed that nearly 3,000 people arrived during the past 24 hours without any shelter or food arrangements.
Ayoub told “Darfur 24” that the conditions of the displaced people coming from El Fasher are bad because there are already large numbers in the region, the high prices of food commodities, and the crowding of citizens in homes with their families.
He added, “The last relief was distributed 3 months ago, and it was a meal for a family, not enough for a single meal.”
A number of families, including children and the elderly, also arrived in the Khazzan Jadid area in East Darfur State, about 150 km south of El Fasher.
Citizen Ali Sharaf al-Din told “Darfur 24” that the number of displaced people from El Fasher this week witnessed an influx towards a new reservoir of about 6 thousand people.
Numbers of people fleeing from the city of El Fasher also headed to the Katal area, the headquarters of the Dar al-Salam locality in North Darfur, south of El Fasher.
A medical staff in Dar es Salaam, Siham Hassan, told “Darfur 24” about the tragic humanitarian conditions experienced by those fleeing El Fasher, including the high prices of food commodities, the cessation of support for organizations, and the scarcity of cash, noting that nearly 2,500 people arrived during the last week of June.
