Tawila, July4(Darfur 24)

People fleeing from El Fasher to the Tawila area, about 60 km away, confirmed that clashes had occurred between the Sudan Liberation Movement forces led by Abdel Wahid Muhammad Nour and unidentified gunmen last Monday, causing their arrival to Tawila to be postponed.

Hussein Abdel Aziz, one of those fleeing from El Fasher, told Darfur 24 that the clashes between the two sides took place west of the Majdoub area, 45 km west of El Fasher, forcing dozens of families who were on their way to Tawila to return to the villages of the Shuqra area, 13 km west of El Fasher.

For his part, a military source in the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdul Wahid Fadl, whose identity was withheld, confirmed that they confronted unknown gunmen planning to rob those fleeing El Fasher, but they suffered casualties before the movement seized military equipment.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Doud, a local leader in the Kulqi area, denied the allegations of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid, explaining to “Darfur 24” that a Rapid Support force coming from the Donki Shatta area, heading to its areas of control in the south, was attacked by Nour’s forces.

Doud warned that these attacks, which have been repeated between the two parties recently, are dragging the Tawila area, the stronghold of the Sudan Liberation Movement and which hosts thousands of people fleeing El Fasher, into new security tensions.
