El Fasher, July 4)Darfur 24)12 people were killed and 20 others were injured Wednesday, as fighting was renewed in the city of El Fasher, according to a medical source at the Saudi Hospital.

Military battles were renewed in the city of El Fasher between the Sudanese army and its allied armed movements on the one hand and the Rapid Support Forces on the other hand.

The medical source, who preferred to conceal his identity, told “Darfur 24” that the condition of some of the wounded is serious, especially children under five years old. He added, “There is a shortage of medical consumables and inpatient wards, while the number of wounded is increasing.”

One of the eyewitnesses, Muhammad Ahmed Farah, from the south of the city, told “Darfur 24” that the city witnessed a violent battle in the southeastern part, where the Rapid Support Forces responded with heavy artillery shelling towards the livestock market, Al-Radeef neighborhood, Tambasi, the vegetable market, and parts of Al-Thawra neighborhood in Al-Nas.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that about 11 children were injured in the vegetable market, some of whom work in transporting goods, some of whom work in shoe cleaning, and some of the street vendors in the livestock market.

One of the citizens told “Darfur 24” that today’s battles are the most violent in a month, and cannons were used extensively, in addition to direct confrontations in the southeastern part.

More than 60% of the population of El Fasher city left after the battles intensified and hospitals went out of service, according to the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Khater.

According to international organizations, 2,000 people were killed and injured, and about 143,000 people were displaced from the city of El Fasher.

The Rapid Support Forces control large parts of the eastern and northern sides of the city of El Fasher, while the Sudanese army and the armed movement forces allied with it control large parts of the southern part, the center and west of the city, and parts of the north of the city.

The Rapid Support Forces are trying to control the last strongholds of the Sudanese army in the Darfur region after taking control of the states of “South-West-Central-East” Darfur through the siege it has imposed on the city of El Fasher since last April.
