Golo, July 3(Darfur 24)The World Food Program was able to deliver a number of (10) trucks loaded with food supplies and various humanitarian aid, to the Golo area in central Jebel Marra, as the first batch to reach this area since the beginning of the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Three trucks belonging to the program were subjected to armed robbery in the Red Mountain area, east of the city of Zalingei, during their trip to the city of Nirtiti, a local capital west of Jebel Marra.

The towns of Jebel Marra are witnessing a concentration of thousands of displaced people fleeing from the cities of Darfur, which witnessed clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, and the areas of Tawila and Rokro are still receiving convoys of displaced people fleeing from the city of El Fasher.

The General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugees confirmed in a statement that the numbers of displaced people are constantly increasing in the areas north of Jebel Marra, especially the “Tawila and Rokro” areas, and that they lack the most basic necessities of life, such as food, treatment, water, and shelter materials. The statement called on humanitarian organizations and agencies to expedite intervention. To save the humanitarian situation in Jebel Marra.

On the other hand, Lapo Souma Qili, Director of the International Solidarity Organization, promised, when he visited the city of Nertiti on Monday, to discuss the situation in Jebel Marra with international partners in New York, to make more efforts to deliver relief to the Jebel Marra areas.
