El Fasher, June (28Darfur 24)
Hundreds of people fleeing from the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, to Zamzam camp suffer from intestinal diseases, influenza, and skin rashes as a result of using unsafe water.
Zahra Ismail, the head of a family who fled her home in the Al Salam neighborhood, told Darfur 24 from the Zamzam camp for displaced people that those fleeing El Fasher are living in difficult and miserable conditions as a result of overcrowding and a lack of clean water, toilets, bathrooms and sewage systems, which threatens to worsen their conditions with the onset of the rainy season.
For his part, a medical source at the Relief Organization Hospital told Darfur 24 that they noticed that the patients were suffering from intestinal problems and the influenza virus, which is spreading widely in the camp as a result of the lack of potable water and other uses. He also pointed out that there were children suffering from skin rashes as a result of the lack of water. Clean for bathing and washing.
The source warned of the occurrence of watery diarrhea among patients, especially children.
The director of the water and environmental sanitation project in the water sector in the state, Engineer Idris Muhammad Suleiman, did not rule out the emergence of water-related diseases in Zamzam camp, before revealing an upcoming meeting of water partners in North Darfur to discuss the issue of water in Zamzam camp, including environmental sanitation issues in general.
