El Fasher , June 27(Darfur 24)

Hundreds of families fleeing the conflict in El Fasher who have arrived in the city of Dabba in the northern state are living in extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, while volunteers struggle to shelter the displaced people stranded in palm farms and some neighborhoods.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to “Darfur 24,” the displaced people who arrived in the city of Al-Dabba are living a life of homelessness in the palm farms on the outskirts of the city, and some of them in the livestock market, noting that the local authorities prevented the displaced people from settling in the market.

The fighting between the Sudanese army and its allies in the armed movements, with the Rapid Support Forces, in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, forced thousands of residents to flee towards the city of Al-Dabba in the northern state, about 1,200 km away.

Adam Yaqoub Adam, a member of the committee to receive displaced people in Al-Dabbah locality, said that about 10,000 people arrived in Al-Dabbah, and some of them settled in a number of neighborhoods and palm farms, confirming that water, food, and some shelter materials were provided to the displaced.

He said that most of those who arrived in Al-Dabbah were stranded and did not have enough food to survive after fleeing the city of El-Fasher, and he appealed to national and international organizations and the authorities to intervene to provide assistance and prepare sites to shelter the displaced.

He added, “There are more people fleeing El Fasher on their way to Al-Dabbah, where about 37 trucks carrying women, children, and the elderly arrived on Wednesday.”

For his part, one of the displaced people who arrived in Al-Dabbah this week, Hussein Muhammad Fadl, told “Darfur 24” that the journey to flee from El-Fasher to the northern state takes 9 days in extremely difficult conditions.

The fighting in the city of El Fasher since May 10 has led to the killing and wounding of nearly 2,000 people, according to Doctors Without Borders, and the targeting of 3 hospitals and the partial destruction of the dialysis center in the center of the city.
