South Kordofan, June 27(Darfur 24)

Informed sources from South Kordofan state government revealed to Darfur 24 that there is humanitarian aid provided by the State of China to the state of South Kordofan, which has been stored in Obeid, North Kordofan, for 6 months, without reaching its beneficiaries due to the closure of roads.

The sources explained, “A higher committee was formed by decree from government secretariat, along with a small committee from the state follow-up office in El Obeid, to look into this aid, given the difficulty of transporting it from El Obeid to South Kordofan and its near expiration.”

She confirmed that the state authority sold “45” tons of rice from this aid for the amount of 59 million pounds, and the amount was deposited in the account of the state of South Kordofan, to support the localities most affected by the war, according to the sources.

In a related context, sources at the Humanitarian Aid Commission in South Kordofan State revealed a Saudi grant amounting to 100,000 sacks of flour and 2,000 cartons of ajwa, a quantity of which arrived in the city of Kosti and was deposited in the warehouses of the World Food Programme.

The sources indicated that coordination took place between the National Humanitarian Aid Commission and the World Food Program regarding her deportation to South Kordofan, which did not receive any aid due to the closure of roads and the siege of cities.

The sources pointed to an upcoming high-level meeting that brings together the National Humanitarian Aid Commission with the relevant authorities in Kadugli to think about humanitarian aid and how to deliver it to those in need.

It is noteworthy that the negotiations that took place in the capital of South Sudan, Juba, in mid-May between the government and the SPLM-N regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the states of South and West Kordofan and the Blue Nile, were aborted due to each party’s adherence to its negotiating positions.
