Armed men onboard a pick up car, “ Hilux” on Friday, opened fire on university student Abu Bakr Ahmed Harun Ali, killing him instantly after resisting them, following an attempt to loot his smartphone
Muhammad Ali, a relative of the deceased man, told “Darfur 24” that an armed gang consisting of 6 people, using a pick up car “Hilux”and wearing “Cadmol” a turban, stopped the man in front of the Yashfin Health Center on Al Daein Street and demanded that he hand over his phone and a sum of money that he had in his possession, but he refused to do so, so they shot him with a volley of bullets and killed him on spot.
One of the eyewitnesses, Al-Fateh Adam Mohamed, revealed to “Darfur 24” that there had been an increase in cases of armed looting in the city by elements using small cars instead of motorcycles after it was banned by an emergency order from the head of the Civil Administration, Mohamed Ahmed Hassan.
He said that his cousin was robbed and shot in the Al-Rahman neighborhood and taken to the hospital last week, as part of dozens of similar incidents.
He added: “After preventing two people from riding a motorcycle, small cars appeared looting citizens.”
The head of the Civil Administration in South Darfur, affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, banned the carrying of weapons in markets and public gatherings. He also imposed a partial curfew inside the city of Nyala from nine o’clock at night until five o’clock in the morning and prohibited the backing of any additional person on a motorcycle.
