Dozens of residents were killed, including a family of 10 members of a displaced people family from the city of Babanusa, and others were injured as a result of artillery and air strikes on the city of Al-Fula, the capital of West Kordofan State, after the attack launched by the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) which subsequently took control of the city.
A member of the Babanusa emergency room told “Darfur 24” that the warplanes launched raids on Thursday evening, during which shells were fired targeting the passport and civil registry premises, leaving two citizens killed.
He continued: “The warplanes also bombed a displaced family from Babanusa, killing most of its members, including Umm al-Hassan al-Bushra, Othman al-Bushra, and their mother. Hasina al-Bushra was injured. There are also a number of separate injuries that have not been counted due to the outage of the communications network.”
A relative of the family, Ahmed Al-Mustafa Muhammad Koko, told “Darfur 24” that the family lives in the Al-Rayyan neighborhood west of the city, near the civil registry headquarters, and was bombed by army warplanes killing 10 family members.
Eyewitness Al-Saleh Al-Tijani Issa told “Darfur 24” that approximately 70% of Al-Fula’s residents were displaced to nearby villages, after the battles that took place between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city on Thursday.
Issa said that the displaced people in the villages depend on stagnant water in the valleys after rains for drinking water, and some merchants also took the initiative to supply the displaced with food supplies.
The Rapid Support Forces took control of the city of Al-Fula, the capital of West Kordofan State, after battles with the army that lasted for about an hour.
