Khartoum, June 22(Darfur 24)

An eyewitness told “Darfur 24” that the army’s drones and artillery shelling that targeted the Al-Jili refinery the day before yesterday hit the warehouse for crude oil and the gas center.

Social media circulated pictures of massive fires at the refinery that lasted for two days.

The refinery has been subjected to a number of strikes over the past months, which usually affect fuel depots and buildings far from the body of the refinery.

This is the first time that the bombing has reached inside the facility, and fears are rising of the complete destruction of the refinery and the subsequent explosions that would expand to populated areas around the refinery.

The eyewitness said that successive strikes hit the production units.

The Rapid Support Forces have been concentrated around the refinery and the Qari area since before the war.

The Ministry of Energy announced a few days ago a plan to evacuate refinery workers, with a limited number remaining.
