Three people were killed and others injured following an attack launched by an armed group on the town of Um Drisaya in Dar es Salaam locality, about 96 kilometers southwest of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Thursday afternoon.
A community leader in the area, Hassan Yaqoub Ibrahim, told “Darfur 24” that the Starlink satellite Internet communications center owned by a young man was looted by an armed man, as a result of which three people from the same family, Muhammad Haren Othman, Muhammad Al-Hadi Othman, and Moaz Muhammad Othman, were wounded, and others were wounded and taken to Shangil Tobay Rural Hospital.
He explained that the gunmen looted the Wi-Fi device and sums of money and fled to an unknown location amid civil panic chases and the outpost of the Manwashi area of South Darfur.
The border town of Umm Darsayah between North Darfur and South Darfur witnesses repeated looting incidents on the road linking the state capital, El Fasher, to Nyala, and some took advantage of the fluid security situation to carry out repeated attacks on villages and remote areas in order to plunder property and livestock, according to the people of the region.
