Violent military battles broke out between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)and the joint force of the armed movements, on Thursday, in the “Um Baar” area, North Darfur, as part of the ongoing conflict over control of the city of El Fasher.
Security sources told “Darfur 24” that the battles broke out after a large-scale attack launched by the joint force of the armed movements, on the Rapid Support Forces stationed in the “Um Baar” area, northwest of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
The sources reported that the battles left large numbers of dead and wounded on both sides, in addition to the destruction of a number of military vehicles.
The sources added, “The attacking joint forces inflicted heavy losses on the Rapid Support Forces before forces supporting the latter arrived from the areas of Al-Zarq and Wadi Hour.”
The sources expected that the fighting would be renewed on Friday, given that there were large crowds from both sides who had arrived in those areas.
The leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, posted on the “X” platform, saying, “The joint force provides lessons and lessons in North Darfur, the Ori-Biri and Ambaar region. The ignorant Rapid Support Forces are imposing on us a war that has become a duty.”
In turn, the spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement, Al-Sadiq Ali Al-Nur, said in a statement that the joint force achieved a victory by defeating the Rapid Support Forces and forcing them to leave behind their dead following a violent battle in the Wadi Umm Baar area in North Darfur state.
The statement indicated the destruction of a large number of military vehicles and the seizure of others in good condition, in addition to the killing of a large number of Rapid Support Forces.
