The Native Administration of South Kordofan State is making intensive efforts to examine options to save residents from hunger in light of the increasing humanitarian needs.
The Sudanese government and the SPLM-N failed to agree on humanitarian arrangements during negotiations mediated by South Sudan, which were hoped to deliver relief to the residents of South and West Kordofan and the Blue Nile.
The Emir of the Dilling tribe, Hassan Abdel Hamid al-Nur, told “Darfur 24” that they had contacted the native administration of the Hawazma tribe in the city of Al-Dabaibat, 5 kilometers north of the city of Dilling, for the purpose of communicating with the Rapid Support leaders in Al-Quz locality to allow the passage of aid.
He pointed out that the native administration of the Hawazma tribe contacted the Rapid Support Forces, as the latter expressed its agreement to facilitate the passage of aid.
He stated that they had contacted the Sudanese government and the United Nations for the purpose of delivering aid, but they spoke of their lack of commitment to any understandings that did not result in a written agreement.
He continued: “We proposed delivering aid via airdrop, even though it is expensive and has poor returns.”
Last week, army aviation dropped tons of life-saving medicines on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, in a step that is expected to be repeated in delivering relief to the most needy residents.
Hassan expressed their hope that the delegations of the government and the SPLM-N would return to negotiations, given that the humanitarian situation goes beyond policy options.
Regarding the agricultural situation, he stressed that there are no arrangements and the success of the agricultural season is not expected due to the fuel shortage, and he warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the region if agreements are not reached to facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid.
The prince stressed that with the onset of autumn and the possibility of failure of the agricultural season and the lack of agreement between the parties, there will be a humanitarian disaster in the region.
