Hundreds of families fleeing the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, are facing extremely complex humanitarian conditions in the Tawila area, which is controlled by the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid Nour.
A number of community leaders in the region told “Darfur 24” that the conditions of the displaced people fleeing due to the clashes taking place in El Fasher since last May, warning of a humanitarian and health catastrophe among those fleeing in conjunction with the onset of the rainy season.
Sheikh Adam Abdullah Sharaf al-Din said that the region is witnessing a massive exodus of people fleeing El Fasher with no horizon of solutions, referring to the lack of food, medicine and shelter tents.
Sharaf said that there is a complete absence of the corn crop, while the price of a quarter has reached 12 thousand Sudanese pounds, in addition to the lack of medicines, shelter tents, and other basic services.
Sharaf warned of a potential humanitarian catastrophe if relief agencies did not intervene to help those recently fleeing the Tawila area.
The city of El Fasher is witnessing a continuous exodus as a result of the clashes taking place in the city between the warring parties, to neighboring areas, including Tawila, with reports of continuous attacks on those fleeing by unidentified gunmen, the latest of which was that dozens of them were exposed in the “Koim” area, east of Tawila, in an attack on Monday morning.
