El Fasher , June 9(Darfur 24)
Three children and an elderly woman were killed, and five others were seriously injured as Sudanese army warplanes launched Sunday airstrike on Alkoma, 76 kilometers northeast of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
A medical source at Al-Koma Rural Hospital told Darfur 24 that this morning the hospital received 4 dead people, including an elderly woman and three children, and 5 wounded people, including 3 children, most of them with serious injuries and burns that require surgical intervention and health care from specialists.
One of the eyewitnesses from the Al-Koma area, Abdullah Muhammad Saleh, revealed to “Darfur 24” that the Antonov plane of the Sudanese army carried out air strikes with four explosive barrels, which led to the complete destruction of the Al-Hay Al-Sharqi Mosque, the second largest mosque in the locality, and the complete burning of another nearby house, killing a number of livestock and animals.
He added, “Today’s raid targeted the mosque next to the house of the head of the Zayadiyya tribe, Abdullah Adam Jazo, and caused panic and terror among the shelter centers adjacent to the site of the bombing.”
On Sunday evening, military aircraft carried out another air strike on the Al-Koma area, targeting neighborhoods south of the city.
Today’s raid is the second this month without significant losses in the first bombing that targeted the vicinity of the large market in the area.
