Zalingei , June 8(Darfur 24
Volunteers in the city of Zalingei, the provincial capital of Central Darfur State, havr begun forming an emergency room to cover the increasing humanitarian needs in light of the halt of humanitarian organizations work.
Emergency room volunteers, especially in Khartoum and North Darfur, provided aid and food to millions of people affected by the conflict through collective kitchens, which are usually funded through personal and popular efforts.
Volunteers from the city of Zalingei told “Darfur 24” that they decided to establish an emergency room in the Karnak neighborhood to provide services and aid to those in need and to the displaced people who left their homes and camps due to the war.
They pointed out that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating due to the failure of national, regional and international relief organizations to respond to the appeals of the displaced.
There are 7 make shift centers in the city of Zalingei, crowded with displaced people who suffer from insecurity, poor health care, and the lack of food and shelter materials as the rains begin.
The conditions of Zalingei residents worsened as a result of the high prices of goods and services, the collapse of the health system, and the lack of job opportunities.
