On Monday, the African Union High-Level Mechanism informed the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces “Taqaddam” of the African Union’s intention to facilitate a comprehensive political between the Sudanese in the coming weeks.
A delegation from the (Tagaddum )which included Al-Hadi Idris, Hayam Bushra, Asmaa Mahmoud Mohamed Taha, Bakri Al-Jak, and Al-Siddiq Al-Mahdi, met in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, with the high-ranking mechanism of the African Union, headed by Mohamed Chambas, Sembosa and Wander.
Tagaddum delegation said in a statement obtained by Darfur 24, that the mechanism informed them of its efforts to stop the war in Sudan through a comprehensive political solution negotiated by the Sudanese themselves.
The mechanism reported that the African Union is working to unify peace-seeking efforts in one platform, stressing that the Jeddah platform is currently the only effective platform in order to reach a ceasefire.
The statement stated that a coordination delegation provided information to the high-ranking mechanism of the African Union about the tragic conditions of the Sudanese people in areas of war, displacement and asylum, especially after the expansion of the war and the threat of famine.
The delegation spoke of the coalition’s intention to hold a round table conference of forces that reject the war and support the democratic civil transition for the purpose of reaching a vision about stopping the war before going to a political process to arrange the country’s situation in conjunction with the ceasefire.
On January 18, the African Union Commission formed a high-level mechanism to restore stability and constitutional order in Sudan, to work with the military parties, civilian forces, and the regional and international community.
