The Chairman of the body for the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, “Taqadum,” Abdullah Hamdok, pledged to move forward with efforts to stop the war, saying: “We will not respond to speeches of treason and blackmail
Addressing a closing session of the founding conference of the “Taqaddum” which was held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the former Sudanese prime Minister said “the conference is the beginning of creating a new Sudan to manage diversity and pluralism in a better and more beautiful way.”
Hamdok whose civilian government was overthrown in a bloodless military coup before the out break of the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF )added “we are committed to working to stop the war and return to the national democratic path and the state’s civility, and that hands are extended for all types of joint work with political forces outside of progress.”
He continued, “We declare our strict commitment to stopping the war, no matter how much some try to brand us as taking sides in it, and this is not true. We have made every effort to avoid any armed conflict, and we are not responsible for any drop of blood that is shed.”
He pointed out that the conference approved the immediate start of preparations for a round table that brings together all Sudanese men and women and the forces that reject the war, except for the National Congress and its facades.
He said, “The conference did not detail how the conference would be held so as not to separate others. Let us sit together to detail the conference’s agenda and everything that can be done to stop the war and restore the democratic civil order.”
Hamdok announced agreement on a political vision to stop the war in Sudan, establish the state, and complete the revolution, based on the foundations of stopping the war, restoring security and stability, the return of the displaced, the unity of Sudan, and the establishment of a democratic civil state that stands at the same distance from religions, identities, and cultures and recognizes diversity.
He praised the founding conference of the “Taqaddum” coordination, saying that it was “a historic event that had never happened before in Sudan when more than 8,600 people of various political orientations met to agree to stop the war.”
