Head of the Umma Party, Mubarak Al-Fadil, called on the military leadership to refrain from granting any military bases on the Red Sea.

Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Yasser Al-Atta, announced that the Armed Forces do not object to granting Russia a military base on the Red Sea, noting that Army Commander Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan will sign a number of agreements with Moscow.

Mubarak Al-Fadil said, in statements to “Darfur 24,” that “granting military bases is a right exercised by the government and the elected parliament, but the current transitional leadership can develop a general policy regulating granting friendly countries the right to supply fuel on the coast of Sudan through specific points on the coast in accordance with mutual interest agreements.” .

Al-Fadil stressed that Sudan’s interests require it to stay away from axes and major power conflict, noting that Sudan’s geostrategic location and resources should be directed to serve its economic and security interests.

He continued to say, “Sudan’s interests require it to refrain from granting military bases.”

Al-Fadil pointed out that the State of Djibouti rents three bases to “the United States, China and France,” despite the competition and discrepancy between the interests of these countries.

He stated that Sudan’s economic interests in developing its mineral, oil and agricultural resources and building its infrastructure are achieved through establishing a strategic relationship with China and India and a partnership with neighboring Arab countries that are looking for investment and need food.

Regarding obtaining weapons in exchange for Al-Qaeda, Mubarak Al-Fadil said that the weapons the army needs can be paid for in cash, which has been the case since the outbreak of the war.

He added: “I personally headed a military delegation to China in February 1989. We purchased all the weapons the armed forces needed and paid the price in cash, and they did not withhold any weapons we requested from us.”

He pointed out that the rescue regime, in its infancy, entered into the axis of Iran, Afghanistan and Islamic movements, so the West besieged Sudan with sanctions, the most dangerous of which was placing Sudan on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

He continued saying, “During the reign of Mayo; President Numeiri entered the policy of the axis to the left after the coup led by the communists. He sought the help of the Russians and nationalized the banks, trade, factories and private sector companies. The result was the destruction of Sudan’s economy. He turned to the right and entered the axis of America and Egypt led by Sadat against the Aden Alliance, Ethiopia Mengistu, Gaddafi’s Libya and South Yemen’s Salem al-Beidh, allied with the Soviet Union. The result was the establishment, training, and arming of the People’s Army led by John Garang, which led, among other reasons, to the secession of South Sudan
