Port Sudan, May 29(Darfur 24)

The acting governor of South Darfur state, Bashir Mursal Hasaballah, issued a decree on Wednesday to suspend work of the executive branch of the state government and all employees of the civil service led by Salah al-Din al-Mouj, Secretary-General of the government, and some ministers.

The decision, which was obtained by Darfur 24, excluded doctors, medical personnel, and health professions other than administrative professions in health affairs.

The acting governor warned civil service workers against dealing with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), considering those who work with them to be rebels and to be held accountable in accordance with the criminal law and the civil service law.

He pointed out that the state government is following up, through the National Authority for the Defense of Rights and Victims, by restricting criminal cases against anyone involved in dealing with (RSF).

Bashir Mersal pledged to pay the state government the benefits and wages of workers who adhered to the decision, stressing that the soldiers of the 16th Division were returning to reclaim the state.

Mursal said that he issued the degree based on the exceptional circumstances that South Darfur is experiencing after the (RSF)took control of state and its tendency to form civilian bodies that would follow it in implementing its policies.
