El Fasher , May 26( Darfur 24)
Doctors Without Borders MSF revealed, on Sunday, that the number of casualties in the ongoing battles in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, had risen, with the dead reaching 123 people, while the wounded exceeded 930.
Since May 10, continuous clashes have been taking place between the army and its allied movements and the Rapid Support Forces and their supporting militias in El Fasher.
In a statement obtained by Darfur 24, Doctors Without Borders considered the large number of battle casualties “an indicator of the intensity of the ongoing fighting.”
The leading medical NGO revealed that one of its team members was killed on Saturday, as a result of a bombing that hit his house, which is located near the main El Fasher market. He works as a guard in the pharmacy and was off duty when the bombing occurred.
MSF indicated that he was immediately transferred to the Southern Hospital to receive treatment, but he died of his wounds.
MSF added: “Many of our employees lost family members or homes during the bombing.”
Doctors Without Borders called on the warring parties to stop the fighting and make more efforts to protect civilians.
