El Fasher , May 25(Darfur 24)

The Sudanese Doctors Association in America (SAPA) provided medical supplies to the Southern Hospital in El Fasher, the provincial capital of North Darfur State.

30 people were killed and more than 64 others were injured during the clashes that took place on Friday, between the army and its allies, the armed movements, the Rapid Support Forces, and the militias allied with it.

The southern hospital is the only operating hospital in El Fasher, after other hospitals went out of service due to the conflict, amid a severe shortage of medical supplies due to the increase in casualties.

The director of Al-Fasher Al-Janobi Hospital, Ezz El-Din Ahmed Daoud, expressed his appreciation for the Association of Sudanese doctors in America for their support of the hospital with a significant amount of medicines and medical supplies for health emergencies.

Ezzedine said that the grant came at the right time, in light of the escalation of the war and the siege that the city of El Fasher is experiencing.

The city of El Fasher suffers from a severe shortage of medical supplies and medicines due to the siege imposed on the city by the Rapid Support Forces, in addition to the lack of oxygen.

The director of the Southern Hospital, Ezz El-Din Ahmed, appealed to the Sudanese Doctors Association in America and humanitarian organizations for more support and the establishment of an oxygen production center due to the state’s urgent need for it.

In 2022, the Sudanese Doctors Association in America established an oxygen factory in the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, with a production capacity of about 140 cylinders per day. Oxygen services cover the five states of Darfur. With the complexities of the scene in the city of El Fasher as a result of the ongoing battles, it may be difficult to supply the city’s hospitals with it.

The representative of Sudanese doctors in America, Mujib al-Rahman al-Ghali, said that the grant provided to the Southern Hospital in El Fasher costs $10,000 as an urgent first phase to support the hospital in confronting health emergencies at the present time, and it contains various types of medicines and medical consumables for health emergencies.

Mujib revealed similar arrangements to support Al-Fasher Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital and some health centers in the state.
