Zalingei, May 23( Darfur 24(

Darfur 24 has learned that the Federal Ministry of Health is conducting consultations with international organizations to deliver emergency medicines, dialysis, AIDS, tuberculosis, and immunization serums to Central Darfur state, after stopping for more than a month.

The Federal Ministry of Health had suspended emergency medications and dialysis from Zalingei Hospital in Central Darfur, after the Rapid Support Forces appointed a steering committee to manage the affairs of the hospital and the state Ministry of Health.

A source in the state Ministry of Health told “Darfur 24” that “the state and federal ministries will not stand idly by and watch as residents are exposed to the risk of death due to the obstacles of both sides of the war, but they will devise other means to overcome the barriers to reach the patient in his place through humanitarian organizations working in the region.”

The Rapid Support Forces in Central Darfur State prevented the Director-General of the State Ministry of Health, the Director of Therapeutic Medicine, and the Director of the Drugs and Poisons Department from carrying out their activities in the name of the Ministry, before appointing a steering committee from outside the field to carry out the tasks of the Ministry of Health.

A medical source from within Zalingei Teaching Hospital told “Darfur 24” that the Rapid Support Forces gave the ministry’s cadres a choice between stopping dealing with what it called the Port Sudan government, and working under the authority of the committee and the initiative, or completely stopping carrying out its activities in the name of the ministry.

The source confirmed that the step caused the cessation of government support for specialized centers, the most important of which was the dialysis center, which stopped working as a result of the interruption of medicines that were sourced from the Federal Ministry of Health in Port Sudan. The measure also caused the cessation of government support for emergency medicines, which increased the cost of treatment inside Zalingei Hospital, which had become It relies on providing medicines on popular initiatives, organizations, and the black market.
