Zalingei , May 21( Darfur 24)
On Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces RSF intelligence arrested the director of the International Relief Organization’s office in Central Darfur, Jamal Adam Hamed, from the organization’s premises in the city of Zalingei.
According to Darfur 24 sources, Hamed was taken to Al-Foj, east of the city market, and the reasons for his arrest are still known so far.
Those close to the director of the World Relief Organization office said that Hamed did not participate in any political activities before or after the war, as his activities were limited to the humanitarian field and he continued to work in providing humanitarian services to the displaced and those affected by the conflict.
Activist Abdul Wahid Adam Saleh wrote on his Facebook account, requesting RSF to release the detainee immediately, in order to preserve the continued flow of humanitarian services in the state.
The displaced people in camps and shelter centers in Central Darfur state suffer from scarcity of food supplies and an urgent need for shelter materials as the fall season approaches.
There are fears that the few organizations that have begun working to cover the humanitarian needs of the displaced will withdraw, due to the rapid support that controls the state’s dealings with humanitarian workers.
The Rapid Support Forces control 6 out of 9 localities in Central Darfur State, while the other three localities are under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid Mohamed Nour.
