El Fasher, May 19 ( Darfur 24)
On Sunday, the Resistance Committees Coordination in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, accused the Rapid Support Forces RSF of deliberately bombing “Saudi” obstetrics and gynecology facilities with heavy artillery.
Since May 10, continuous battles have been taking place between the army and its allied movements and the Rapid Support Forces and their supporting militias in El Fasher.
The Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher said, in a statement obtained by “Darfur 24,” that “the Janjaweed militia deliberately bombed the specialized hospital for obstetrics and gynecology with heavy artillery.”
She indicated that the bombing caused nine people to be injured, three of them seriously, all of them passers-by and merchants around the hospital wall.
It was reported that the hospital’s main water tank and system, part of the solar energy system, the electricity transmission system, and the backup generator were damaged, in addition to the shattering of the windows of a number of wards and doctors’ offices.
The coordination considered the bombing “a blatant violation of all international norms and laws regarding the rules of war.”
On May 12, Médecins Sans Frontières announced the closure of the Babiker Nahar Children’s Hospital, which it supports in the city of El Fasher, after an air strike near it that killed two children and a health care provider.
