Kabum , May 17(Darfur 24)

OnnThursday, the Beni Halba and Salamat tribes in South Darfur signed cessation of hostility agreement , under the auspices of the Rapid Support Forces RSF.

Relations between the two major Darfurian Arab tribes deteriorated following stealing of cows from both sides, the most recent of which was the end of last week when the Beni Halba tribe lost a number of cows, accusing Salamat of stealing them, which made the latter mobilize to confront the former, but the intervention of popular efforts and the Rapid Support Forces returned the cows and committees were formed to o bring the warring parties together and resolve the difference through peaceful means.

The efforts of mediators and elders from the two tribes and community leaders from the Kabum area, under the supervision of the Rapid Support Forces, succeeded in containing the tensions and signing the reconciliation agreement.
