Cairo, May 9(Darfur 24)

On Wednesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, Sudanese political forces signed a document to manage the transitional founding period.

The vision includes resolving the political crisis, ending the war, and establishing a just and comprehensive peace.

The political forces that signed the Cairo Document include groups supporting the Sudanese army in its war against the Rapid Support Forces, led by the Darfur movements involved in the ranks of the army, and politicians such as Mubarak Al-Fadil, Al-Tijani Sisi, Jaafar Al-Mirghani, and Mubarak Ardul, in addition to the head of the Beja tribe, Muhammad Al-Amin Turk.

The political forces stated that “the document comes as an inspiration for the accumulated struggle and strife of the Sudanese people before and after independence, and in recognition of the challenges facing Sudan, and a sense of the importance and inevitability of gathering the national ranks and unifying the position and opinion of all the people of Sudan in order to protect the homeland, its wealth, the citizen, and its gains.”

The document included a number of general principles, emphasizing Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, independence of its national decision-making and national security, saying that “the Sudanese army is the only legitimate institution responsible for maintaining security and defending the country’s unity and territorial integrity, and it monopolizes the use of legitimate force.”

The document also pointed out the importance of recognizing the ethnic, religious and cultural pluralism and diversity that achieves equal citizenship as a basis for rights and duties, stressing that the Sudanese people are the holders of sovereignty and authority and delegate their free will to whomever they wish through free and fair elections with national and international monitoring.

The Sudanese forces stressed that the goal of signing the document is to settle the political crisis, end the war, lay the foundations for a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, and commit to a framework vision that represents a starting point for ending the war and settling the Sudanese crisis, as well as agreeing on a transitional founding period to rule the country, and reform and rebuild the state apparatus in the form Which reflects its independence, nationalism, and fair distribution of opportunities without prejudice to the conditions of eligibility and competence, in addition to ensuring the achievement of the security and stability necessary for the transition to democratic civil rule.
