UN spokesman Stefan Dujarric announced that humanitarian workers are deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, amid urgent needs to expand humanitarian access through conflict lines and borders.

UN spokesman warning comes as directors of international agencies and non -governmental organizations rounded up a joint visit to Sudan on Thursday “to warn the world about the very destructive situation throughout the country, including the levels of catastrophic food insecurity, and the increasing risk of starvation.”

The United Nations spokesman pointed out, during a press conference in New York, the lack of resources available for operations there, as the humanitarian appeal for Sudan is still funded by ten percent only, “Despite the generous pledges that were pledged in Paris about two weeks ago ”.

On the escalating clashes and tensions in El -Fasher, Mr. Dujarik said that the humanitarian workers are deeply disturbed by the situation of civilians in the city and around it.

He added: “We are concerned about the restrictions imposed on civilian movements and reports that they are being attacked and theft while trying to flee the south from the capital of North Darfur State, and the fighting inside and around the city has led to the cut -off of human arrival to civilians who desperately need help.” .

The United Nations spokesman warned that if the violence escalates in El Fasher, more than 360,000 people will be deprived of food aid and support for livelihoods, and more than a hundred thousand people will lose shelter assistance, stressing that the escalation may also have “negative repercussions on Human access to other states in the Darfur region.
