Two Sudanese gunmen and a woman were killed as Sudanese gunmen clashed with members of the Chadian army inside the market of the border town of Umm Dukhun.

Eyewitness, who preferred his identity remain anonymous told Darfur 24 that the Chadian forces were chasing armed men accused of stealing a car from the Chadian army camp, which is three kilometers from the city of Umm Dukhun inside Chadian territory.

The armed men entered the city of Umm Dukhan in a vehicle.

The eyewitness explained that while the Chadian army was searching the Umm Dukhun market, they found the perpetrators in possession of the vehicle, and clashes took place between them, as a result of which two gunmen were killed, in addition to a woman who happened to be near the clashes.

The witness added, “Chadian forces were able to recover the stolen car after the gunmen fled, and the clashes caused panic and among residents and traders which led to the closure of the market.”
