Sudanese army warplanes launched air strikes on the city of Kutum, 136 km northwest of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, at midnight on Monday.

One of the eyewitnesses in the city of Kutum, Ishaq Muhammad Ibrahim, told “Darfur 24” that the raid targeted the Istiklal neighborhood, west of the city, and caused casualties among civilians, confirming that more than three shells were fired, causing panic among the city’s residents.

“Darfur 24” was unable to confirm civilian casualties.

Yesterday’s raid on the city of Kutum was the second this year.

Sudanese army warplanes also launched new air strikes on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, last Monday night, and fired more than 15 shells at the neighborhoods north and east of the city, according to eyewitnesses.

Witnesses told “Darfur 24” that the aircraft targeted the positions of the Rapid Support Forces in the neighborhoods of “Dim Silk, the institute, the family, the land port, the mountain, the factories, the stock exchange,” and the entrance to the Haluf “Malit” gate.

“Darfur 24” was not able to obtain information about human casualties in the raids.

On Monday night, a Sukhoi plane belonging to the Sudanese army flew in the airspace of the city of El Fasher for more than half an hour, and the Rapid Support Forces fired heavy anti-aircraft guns at the plane.

The raid launched at night on the city of El Fasher is the fifth of its kind this April. Last March witnessed 7 air strikes, bringing the number of raids this year to 14 and 17 since the beginning of the fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in April of last year.
