The Coordination Body of Civil Democratic Forces also known in short as( Taggadom) confirmed that the Paris Humanitarian Conference reflected the world’s interest in the need to stop the war in Sudan and open the door to humanitarian aid.
On Monday, the International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and neighboring countries was held in the French capital, Paris, and was organized by France, Germany and the European Union, and ended with the raising of about two billion euros.
Taggadom said in a statement that the holding of the conference represents an important step in the context of directing global attention to the warnings of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and the need to work hard to stop the disastrous war against Sudan and all countries of the region.
He explained that the Sudanese war created and continues to produce extremely dangerous tragic conditions that put the country on the brink of famine, the collapse of the health system and basic services, the destruction of infrastructure, and tens of thousands of dead, wounded and missing people.
The statement indicated that the conference was held with broad international and regional participation, and addressed the humanitarian crisis in its various dimensions, with a focus on acute food shortages, the suffering faced by women and children in light of the expansion of the war, the interruption of educational services, and the cessation of livelihoods due to the war.
He added, “The conference came out with important commitments that reflect the international community’s interest in the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan, as the volume of international commitments amounted to about two billion euros. The conference also reflected the world’s interest in the necessity of stopping the war in Sudan and opening the door to humanitarian aid in order to stop the Sudanese war.”
“Taqaddam” praised the role played by the French government in organizing the conference and mobilizing international interest to participate in it and the commitment to supporting and assisting the Sudanese people. It also appreciated the broad international participation in the conference.
The statement added, “We are confident of the seriousness of all parties that participated in the conference in the need to fulfill their obligations quickly and urgently, commensurate with the scale of the humanitarian disaster in Sudan. We also call for the commitment of the parties to the war in Sudan to facilitate the work of international and local organizations, community initiatives, emergency rooms, and all groups working in the field of humanitarian aid and providing Protection for them.”
French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Monday that those gathered at the Paris conference on Sudan on Monday pledged to provide humanitarian aid of more than two billion euros to support civilians.
“This support will allow us to respond to the most urgent needs in the sectors of food and nutrition security, health, water and sanitation, education, and protect the most vulnerable,” he said.
European Union countries will contribute 900 million euros of the total pledges, of which France’s share amounts to 110 million.
The United Nations says that about 25 million people, or more than half of Sudan’s population, need humanitarian aid, while about 4 million children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition.
The war disrupted economic activity and cut supply and aid lines, leading to widespread food insecurity. About 5 million people are on the brink of famine.
