Chairman of Coordination Body for Civil and Democratic Forces Abdullah Hamdok, reviewed Sudan’s humanitarian conditions before Western officials.
In the French capital, Paris, Abdullah Hamdok held two meetings with Canadian Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussein and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, on the sidelines of the humanitarian conference on Sudan, whose activities are taking place today in Paris.
Taqaddam said, in a statement obtained by Darfur 24, that Hamdok reviewed during the two meetings the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in Sudan due to the continuation of the war.
Hamdok stressed the necessity of responding quickly to the urgent needs of millions of Sudanese who were affected by the war. He also discussed the importance of unifying and coordinating internal and external efforts to reach a peaceful, negotiated solution that ends the war and establishes a comprehensive and sustainable peace in Sudan.
Canadian Minister Ahmed Hussein and German Minister Annalena Baerbock affirmed their countries’ interest in alleviating the suffering of the people of Sudan and working to stop the war.
They indicated that their participation in the Paris conference comes in this context, and that they will continue to support the efforts of Sudanese civilians to bring peace to their country.
25 million Sudanese need humanitarian aid, while 18 million people face severe food insecurity, including 5 million individuals who are one step away from famine.
The war disrupted economic activity and cut supply and aid lines, leading to widespread food insecurity.
