Khartoum, March 22(Darfur 24)The National Umma Party announced on Thursday that the military intelligence of the Sudanese army in Sennar State arrested a number of its cadres and emergency room volunteers.

The party said in a press statement that intelligence arrested “Abbas Imam, a member of the party’s political bureau in Sennar state, Faisal Al-Rih, and a number of cadres in the state’s emergency rooms without giving any reasons, and they have not been released yet.”

The statement indicated that “Abdul Majid Bushra Khater, Abd al-Salam Markaz, and Sheikh al-Zein Ambda have been detained for more than a month in the army’s military intelligence detention centers in Sennar.”

The National Umma Party condemned the army’s military intelligence’s continued arrest of cadres and activists under emergency rule, while arrests of citizens continue on a regional basis without convincing justifications.

The party demanded the immediate release of all detainees, holding military intelligence in Sinnar state fully responsible for the safety of its detainees.

He stressed that the continuation of these violations against civilians violates international humanitarian law and makes military intelligence a tool for repression and abuse against citizens.
