Kauda, March 21 (Darfur 24)
The “New Sudan Civil Authority in the Nuba Mountains” announced the killing of 5 civilians and the wounding of 3 others as a result of new air strikes carried out by the Sudanese army in the Nuba Mountains, which also caused the displacement of (560) families.
The new incident comes less than a week after the “Hadra massacre,” in which 11 students and two teachers were killed, and 47 others were injured, most of them children, as a result of an air strike carried out by the Sudanese army on a school in South Kordofan.
The official spokesperson for the civil authority in the Nuba Mountains region, Rania Babiker Wonza, said in a statement that the Sudanese army continued its barbaric aggression against the villages of the Nuba Mountains, where an Antonov plane dropped (3) explosive barrels in “Al-Kenizia” in the Anbong “Umm Dorein” district, It led to the death of (5) citizens.
He confirmed that the Sudanese Air Force also targeted the city of “Habila” and the village of “Al-Karqal” by dropping a number of explosive barrels, which led to the displacement of more than (560) families from these areas to other villages, cities and areas.
The statement said that with this aggression, the Sudanese army is renewing its targeting of civilians in the Nuba Mountains and its management of a war of genocide and systematic ethnic cleansing, which it has been doing since its founding.
He pointed out that Sudanese governments, since the departure of the colonialists, have continued to send death to the Nuba Mountains region instead of providing services and development.
He stated, “The use of aircraft in wars and the killing of innocent citizens expresses cowardice, not victory, and you must confront armies on battlefields and not throw explosives in this random manner, as this confirms hatred and contempt for some peoples who have the right to determine their fate and determine their future,” according to the statement.
He explained that targeting children and depriving them of the right to life and education by destroying educational infrastructure is considered a war crime and genocide, noting that children’s schools are not battlefields.
