Nyala, March 20(Darfur24)The Director of the Electricity Distribution Company in South Darfur, Engineer Mohamed Al-Hafiz, announced the return of electricity to some electricity transmission lines in the city of Nyala, thanks to the efforts made by the Electricity Department to rehabilitate some network lines that were largely destroyed during the battles that took place between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city.
Al-Hafiz indicated in a statement to Radio Dabanga that the maintenance operations continued for five months, during which they were able to rehabilitate three lines out of five to operate the Turkish generating station, to provide electrical current to the industries area. He indicated that the electrical current will gradually return to the lines of residential neighborhoods.
The director of the Electricity Distribution Company added that the network in the city center area needs complete rehabilitation in that it was completely destroyed and needs the manufacture of poles to transmit the current. He added, “We will begin to restore the network and strategic facilities in the city, which include markets, hospitals, and all the vital facilities that the people of the state need.”
He stated that the company is now planning to restore service to all neighborhoods in the city of Nyala, and at the same time he appealed to citizens, productive sectors, chambers of commerce and industry, and merchants to participate in supporting the rehabilitation of the Nyala electricity network.
