Port Sudan , March 22(Darfur 24)On Sunday, the Sudanese army denied the Rapid Support Forces’ claim that it refused to hand over hundreds of its prisoners through the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The office of the official spokesman for the armed forces said, in a statement obtained by “Darfur 24”, that “in continuation of its usual approach of spreading lies and falsifying facts, the militia issued a statement stating that the armed forces refused to receive 537 captured officers and soldiers through the International Committee of the Red Cross.”
He pointed out that the armed forces did not receive any communications or correspondence from the international organization related to this matter.
He continued: “What the Al-Dagalo terrorist militia issued are pure lies that will not deceive our people who are constantly suffering from its violations, as it has proven that it is merely a tool to implement an immoral project that has established and continues to lie, falsify facts, and destroy the country’s capabilities.”
Earlier today, Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces said that its leadership directed the release of 537 members of the armed forces’ prisoners, as it addressed the International Committee of the Red Cross in order to complete the procedures for their release and then hand them over to the army.
It reported that the Red Cross contacted the army to complete the handover and handover procedures, but the leadership of the armed forces refused to receive the officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers who belong to its ranks, even though the step came as a gesture of good intentions.
