Port Sudan, Feb (Darfur24)The Transitional Council in Sudan announced today, Thursday, that the Army Commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, left the city of Port Sudan, the “temporary capital,” heading to the Arab Republic of Egypt, on an official visit during which he will hold discussions with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Sovereignty Council media said, in a press circular, that Al-Burhan’s discussions with Sisi address ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of common interest.
The President of the Sovereignty Council is accompanied during the visit by the Foreign Minister-designate, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, and the Director of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal.
For his part, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo, Muhammad Abdullah Ali Al-Toum, said in a press statement that the discussions between “Al-Burhan and Al-Sisi” will focus on developments in the internal situation in Sudan in light of the ongoing war, and will also discuss ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to discussing… Regional and international issues of common interest.
The ambassador added, “The visit comes in the context of continuous communication between the leadership of the two countries and their keenness to continue consultation and discussion on everything that concerns the two brotherly countries, given the distinguished bilateral relations and the ties of blood, geography and common history that unite the Sudanese and Egyptian people.”
He pointed out that the visit confirms the importance Sudan attaches to its relations with Egypt and its keenness to develop them in all fields, in addition to Egypt’s efforts to restore stability and security in Sudan as it is one of the countries most affected by what is happening in Sudan and has a real interest in its stability and security.
Last Monday, Al-Burhan visited Libya at the invitation of the Libyan Presidential Council and Prime Minister Mohamed Dabaiba, who extended a similar invitation to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.
During his visit to Tripoli, Al-Burhan met with the Mufti of Islamic groups, Sadiq Al-Gharyani, who is accused of being an instigator of violence and terrorism.
