Khartoum, Feb21(Darfur 24)The National Umma Party condemned the violations of the Rapid Support Forces in the villages of Al-Jazeera State, during which a number of civilians were killed. The party also condemned the air bombardment launched by the Sudanese army on the city of “Al-Daein” in eastern Darfur.
The National Umma Party said in a press statement, “The village of Al-Oqda Al-Magharibi, and a number of neighboring villages in Al-Jazira State, and some villages in Sennar State, were subjected to horrific raids and violations by the Rapid Support Forces, which led to the killing of a large number of citizens and the wounding of dozens. These villages are for looting, intimidation and displacement.”
The party added, “At the same time, armed forces aircraft raided East Darfur state, targeting residential neighborhoods in the city of El Daein, on Monday, which led to deaths and injuries among citizens and the complete destruction of homes and some shops.”
He held both sides of the war fully responsible for the violations, calling on the Rapid Support Forces to withdraw from villages and cities that are not connected to military operations. He also called on the army to stop the unjustified aerial bombardment of residential neighborhoods in cities, destroying infrastructure and public and private property, and endangering the lives of civilians.
He said, “The continuous violations by both sides in the war; It confirms beyond any doubt that the war has lost all moral, religious and humanitarian justifications. It has become primarily targeting citizens, and both sides of it are not concerned with the interests of the nation and the citizen.”
The Rapid Support Forces said on Tuesday, “Warplanes targeted residential neighborhoods in the city of Al Daein with explosive barrels.” This led to the death of 11 civilians, 9 of whom belonged to the same family, including children and women, in addition to the injury of dozens of civilians, and the burning and destruction of hundreds of homes.”
The Emergency Lawyers Group condemned the air strikes launched by the army on the city of Al Daein, saying that “the targeting of areas crowded with civilians by warplanes is a war crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”
A citizen of the city of Al-Daein told Darfur 24’s Ibrahim that the bombing began at twelve o’clock midnight on Monday in the industrial area and the old corral, passing through the Grand Market and Al-Nahda neighborhood, and ending in the Tadamon neighborhood. Before the raiding plane headed to the “Umm Warqat” area, west of the city, on the road between Nyala and Al-Daein, it fired shells at the area without confirming whether losses had occurred or not.
The raid is the third of its kind after the Rapid Support Forces took control of the city and garrison of Al-Daein on November 21. But the previous two raids did not cause loss of life or property
