Eldaein, Feb 20(Darfur 24)An air strike by Sudanese army aircraft – according to citizens – killed five civilians, including refugees from South Sudan, and injured an uncounted number until this moment last night on the neighborhoods of Tadamon and the old Zariba in the city of El Daein, the capital of East Darfur State.
Adam Ibrahim, a citizen of the city of El Daein, told Darfur 24 that the bombing of the livestock pen resulted in the death of two refugees from South Sudan working in brick ambushes and the wounding of a number of their colleagues from Sudan. The bombing of the Tadamon neighborhood left two people dead, and a fifth died as a result of being hit by shrapnel from the bombing on the Orunga market.
Ibrahim told Darfur 24 that the bombing began at twelve midnight on Monday in the industrial area and the old corral, passing through the Grand Market and the Nahda neighborhood, and ending in the Tadamon neighborhood. Before the raiding plane headed to the Umm Warqat area, west of the city, on the road between Nyala and Al-Daein, it fired shells at the area without confirming whether any losses had occurred or not.
Yesterday’s raid was the third of its kind after the Rapid Support Forces took control of the city and garrison of Al-Daein on November 21. But the previous two raids did not cause loss of life or property like last night’s raid.
