Addis, Feb 17(Darfur 24) A delegation from the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces CCDF held meetings with senior officials of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the United Nations.
The head of the authority and former Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdel Hamdok, arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Thursday, to hold meetings with leaders of regional and international organizations and African leaders participating in the African Union summit scheduled to be held on Saturday and Sunday.
The Coordination Committee said, in a statement obtained by the “Darfur 24” website, that a delegation led by Abdullah Hamdok met with the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra.
She noted that the meeting addressed the catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from the war and its increasing pace, as Taqadum called for redoubling international efforts to provide relief and ensure its delivery without obstruction.
The army refuses to deliver relief to the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces, which are large areas, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is subject to the army, said that the government does not mind delivering it.
In the same context, Hamdok and a delegation from the Coordination Committee met with the Executive Secretary of IGAD, to discuss developments in the situation in Sudan and the implementation of the outcomes of the recent IGAD summit held in Uganda.
The summit called for a direct meeting between the commanders of the army and the Rapid Support, but the armed forces decided to suspend dealing with IGAD in relation to the Sudanese crisis.
On Thursday, Taqaddam held a meeting with the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Anna Beth, and another meeting with the French Ambassador to Sudan, Raja Rabia.
