El Fasher, Feb 4(-Darfur 24)The city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, witnessed a large movement of citizens from the northern and eastern neighborhoods to the southern neighborhoods of the city, shelter centers and the Zamzam camp for the displaced, 17 km southwest of El Fasher, after the recent clashes in the city between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces last Thursday, which left 5 dead and 21 wounded.
A member of the El Fasher Resistance Committees, Muhammad Abdullah Bennani, told “Darfur 24” about the displacement of a number of families from the neighborhoods of Al-Thawra North, Dim Silk, the Al-Jabal neighborhood, the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced, the Abu Shouk neighborhood, the first class, and Abuja to the shelter centers in Timbasi, Al-Redif, the Southern School, and other schools, and some families traveled to neighboring localities. And the areas of Abu Zureika, Shajara, Shangil Tobay and Golo.
Bennani justified the state of displacement out of fear of continued confrontations and the use of military aircraft there. He revealed the existence of a real crisis in housing, water, food, and a shortage of medicines in shelter centers, anticipating the emergence of some diseases in the absence of rapid intervention.
Citizen Hamed Youssef Hamed, who lives in the “Abshok” neighborhood northwest of El Fasher city, told “Darfur 24” about the displacement of a number of his neighbors to the south of the city and the transfer of their property. He added: “We witnessed more than one clash in the northern neighborhoods, and every time people were displaced, but this time the rate of displacement Big, and I expect they will not return for fear of flying.
The Darfur 24 correspondent saw dozens of families on board buggy carts, accompanied by their children and some luggage, bags and household items, heading west towards the Zamzam camp for the displaced.
