Kassala, January 31 (Darfur 24)
A military source told Darfur 24 that the Sudanese army began preparing for a military operation aimed at regaining control over Al-Jazeera state in the center of the country.
The Rapid Support Forces RSF took control of large parts of Al-Jazeera State after entering the state capital Wad Madani in December.
The army commander , Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan said he issued instructions to the army and armed struggle movements to launch a massive attack on the Rapid Support Forces and expel them.
Addressing his troops in eastern Sudan Al-Burhan said it was high time to expel the rebels.
For the first time, Al-Burhan referred to coordination between the army and the armed struggle movements, and he said during his speech, “The armed forces and the forces of the movements that signed the peace agreement are moving forward at a steady pace to end this rebellion and expel it permanently from its location.”
In November, the Sudan Liberation Army movements, led by Minni Arko Minawi, and the Justice and Equality Movement, led by Jibril Ibrahim, announced their abandonment of neutrality, in conjunction with the mobilization of rapid support in El Fasher, North Darfur.
Press reports reported tensions between two armed movements supporting the army at a troop assembly camp in the city of Gedaref in the east of the country.
“Darfur 24” monitored convoys of cars belonging to some armed struggle movements, which were seen heading towards Al-Dabbah and Dongola.
The military source suggested that the Madani operation would be a turning point for the situation of the field army.
The army began launching attacks in the cities of Omdurman and Bahri over the past three days.
