Nyala, 28 September ( Darfur24) Chairman of the Sudanese Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC), Musa Hilal, has announced that he is proposing a mediation initiative to resolve the ongoing bloody Intercommunal violence between Bani Hlabiba and Salamat tribes in the state of South Darfur.
Darfur 24 has learned from reliable sources that RAC chief’s Initiative coincides with another mediation efforts led by RSF deputy chairman , Lieutenant General Abdul Rahim Al -Duqlo, who arrived in the city of Nyala the day before yesterday, and from it moved to the Umm Zaifa in the locality of Al -Fursan, the birthplace of the Bani Habiba tribe.
A renowned community leader in in Darfur told Darfur 24 that Abdel Rahim Dagalo’s mediatory role had been rejected by some leading figures of Bani Habiba tribe who had met him in the Umm Zaifa area, before leaving to the city of Kass to meet tribal elders of Salamat tribe.
However, tribal fighting between the two Arab tribes erupted last August, in the locality of Kabam, 135 km, west of the city of Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur state , leaving hundreds dead and injured, besides burning of villages.
Meanwhile, tribal elder, Musa Hilal, Chairman of the Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC) said Thursday that he was following with grave concern the unfortunate incidents that was triggered by the tribal clashes between Beni Halbah and Salamat in the locality of Kabam and its administrative units.
In a statement seen by Darfur24 ,Hilal said” The Revolutionary Awakening Council (RAC ) officially announces an initiative to resolve the conflict between the two tribes of Bani Halbah and Salamat ,and I will personally lead this medication efforts in my capacity as chairman of the Revolutionary Awakening Council RAC and a tribal leader, in close collaboration with tribal elders from Darfur States and some other Sudanese States.”
Hilal appealed to the two warring tribes to stop fighting and resort to the voice of reason .
