Nyala , September 26(Darfur 24) The dialysis center at the Specialized Hospital in the city of Nyala, the provincial capital of South Darfur state, faces problems that threaten the continuity of its work, due to the fact that it’s located in the area that witnesses regular clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the center of the city, and the lack of fuel used to generate electricity, accumulated in the lack of dialysis supplies.
A nursing technician working at the center, Mazen Abdul Aziz Abdullah, said that the continuity of work at the center requires the provision of fuel to operate the electricity generator, as well as food and incentives for the medical and technical staff and volunteer workers, whose number exceeds 30 .
Mazen told Darfur 24 that the dialysis center operates seven days a week except Friday with 17 washing machines operating at maximum capacity for 17 patients per day.
He added: The medical supplies in the center are only enough for two months.”
Mazen confirmed that a number of patients left the city of Nyala to other states due to the center’s presence in an area of clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which limits their movement.
According to Mazen, the number of patients currently receiving treatment at the center is 84 out of more than 200 patients who were receiving treatment at the center who left the state, including patients from the states of West and Central Darfur States.
