Nyala’ September 11 (Darfur 24)
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said Sunday that it has sent 5 tons of medicines and medical equipment to South Darfur state to cover the state’s health needs.

Since last April, the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, has been witnessing fierce battles between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which led to the outage of most health institutions, in addition to the looting and vandalism of all stores of medicines and medical equipment in the state.

The United Nations Population Fund stated that the quantities of medicines include reproductive health and emergency pregnancy needs for 500,000 women and girls in the state.

He renewed his commitment to working to provide safe childbirth for women in Sudan.
